Not necessarily. A dead keypad is very often flat batteries rather than a failed lock. It is worth mentioning when you call, because it changes what the technician brings and sometimes what the job costs.

Will opening the safe destroy it?

The aim is always to open it in a way that leaves the safe usable. Whether that is possible depends on the make, the lock type and what has actually failed. We will tell you what we expect before starting rather than afterwards.

Can you replace the lock once it is open?

The method depends entirely on the safe. Where a unit can be opened non-destructively it will be, because that keeps the safe usable and the cost down. Where the lock has genuinely failed, opening may involve work on the lock itself — and in that case we will explain what is involved, and what putting it right afterwards means, before going ahead.
